iPhone6 : Bigger than bigger

iPhone 6 isn’t simply bigger —
it’s better in every way. Larger, yet dramatically thinner. More powerful, but remarkably power efficient. With a smooth metal surface that seamlessly meets the new Retina HD display. It’s one continuous form where hardware and software function in perfect unison, creating a new generation of iPhone that’s better by any measure.

iPhone at its largest. And thinnest.

Developing an iPhone with a larger, more advanced display meant pushing the edge of design. From the seamless transition of glass and metal to the streamlined profile, every detail was carefully considered to enhance your experience. So while its display is larger, iPhone 6 feels just right.

Not just a bigger display. A better display.

It’s one thing to make a bigger display. It’s something else entirely to make a bigger Multi‑Touch display with brilliant colours and higher contrast at even wider viewing angles. But that’s exactly what we did with the new Retina HD display.

Hugely powerful. Enormously efficient.

Built on 64-bit desktop-class architecture, the new A8 chip delivers more power, even while driving a larger display. The M8 motion coprocessor efficiently gathers data from advanced sensors and a new barometer. And with increased battery life, iPhone 6 lets you do more, for longer than ever.

The camera that changed photos now does the same for video.

More people take more photos with iPhone than with any other camera. And now the iSight camera has a new sensor with Focus Pixels and new video features, like 1080p HD at 60 fps, slo-mo at 240 fps, and time-lapse video mode. So you’ll have more reasons to capture more moments on video too.

Faster wireless. Far and wide.

iPhone 6 supports fast wireless technologies and connects to networks all over the world. And with advanced Wi‑Fi, you’ll experience incredibly fast wireless speeds.

Security. Right at your fingertip.

The breakthrough Touch ID technology lets you securely access your iPhone with the perfect password: your fingerprint. You can also use it to approve purchases from iTunes and the App Store without having to enter your password.

The biggest iOS release ever.

iOS 8 is our most advanced mobile operating system. And with incredible new capabilities and features designed to make the most of a larger display, iOS 8 doesn’t just work seamlessly with iPhone 6. It makes every experience feel bigger and better.

Google announces Android 5.0 Lollipop

After an extended testing and preview period, Google has announced the final release of Android L, its latest version of the world's most popular mobile platform. Android 5.0 Lollipop is debuting on three new Nexus devices — the Nexus 6 smartphone, Nexus 9 tablet, and Nexus Player streaming media device — and will be available on the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7, Nexus 10, and Google Play Edition devices in the coming weeks.

Lollipop's most obvious new features come in the form of visual enhancements and user interface changes, which Google has dubbed Material Design. The platform has new, more fluid animations, a cleaner design with a bolder color palette, a revamped multitasking menu, and offers new ways to interact with your voice. Many of the new Material Design features can be seen in the recent updates that Google has released for its own Android apps such as Google+. The Material Design initiative is meant to unify the software's look and feel across various form factors, whether that's a tablet, smartphone, home media streamer, or something else.

In addition to a visual overhaul, Lollipop brings over 5,000 new APIs for developers to tap into and lets multiple different Android devices with various form factors work better together. Google says that things such as songs, photos, apps, and recent searches can be seamlessly synced across various Android devices. Lollipop also includes new notification controls to limit alerts during meetings and other times, a new battery saver mode that can eke out 90 more minutes of life between charges, multiple user accounts, guest user modes, and new ways to secure your device via trusted Bluetooth connections. Lollipop will also include a protection against resetting the phone to factory defaults, which is designed to make it difficult for phone thieves to use a stolen device. Many of these features have been implemented by various Android device makers on their own smartphones and tablets for some time, but Google is now making sure they are part of the core Android experience.

MOTO X

Moto X was launched late in India, but has some impressive features including touchless controls and Active notifications. The specifications are not that high end but definitely worth the price at Rs. 23,999. Making the Moto X the cheapest smartphone in our roundup.

NEXUS 5

The Nexus 5 is the best that Google has to offer right now and rightly so, it is the purest form of Google’s Android KitKat. The Nexus 5 comes free of any bloatware, and even though it was released last year it can compete with any new phone released recently. All that at a price lower than its competition.

HTC ONE M8

The HTC One M8, like its predecessor the HTC One, does hold its own when it comes to the build quality. In a competitive phone market HTC has sure been able to differentiate itself with its premium design and high end specifications. Being one of the best built android phones in a market that is saturated with plastic handsets, the HTC One M8 offers a refreshing change.

SAMSUNG GALAXY S5

Samsung comes for a fifth round and as strong as ever with its Galaxy S5. The new handset offers the usual flexibility, including a Micro SD expansion and removable battery with high end specs. The S5 does have some extras such as IP67 certification making it dust and water proof up to 1 meter and with a fingerprint scanner and a heart rate monitor giving its rivals a run for their money.

LG G PRO 2

The LG G Pro 2 announced at the MWC 2014 held in Barcelona earlier this year, and has just landed in India for a whopping price of Rs 51,500. It still has the dated Snapdragon 800 chipset but delivers plenty of power , a lovely 5.9” Screen and 4K video recording capabilities.

Tata Motors' Revotron engine

I’ll take the last question first. Tata Motors’ turnaround is not just about being a dominant player in the Indian automotive industry. Its plans are much more global in that sense and it does not involve one car but a slew of automobiles in various body styles. These will be launched not just in India but in international markets as well, presumably for now, all the markets Tata Motors is already present in but with a few more added to that list. Tata Motors built a tech centre in Coventry, U.K before it acquired JLR and this is where a large part of the work on the engine took place. The intention was to raise engineering, design and technology to global standards and this involved building a massive workforce of engineers and technicians spread across 11 technical centres in five countries.
Headlining all of these cars however is going to be one engine that has been developed in-house but with several partners assisting in various areas. This one engine is the Revotron, a turbo-charged multi-point fuel injected engine feeding off petrol. Interestingly the name Revotron was derived from two words, Revo which is part of revolution and tron from ‘Tronel’ which according to Tata Motors is French for balance. However I’ve been searching the word tronel on several dictionaries and I can’t seem to find any reference to it, so if anyone out there knows if that really means balance do let me know.
Displacement is listed at 1,193cc with 90PS of peak power coming in at 5,000rpm and 140Nm maximum torque available from 1,750 to 3,500rpm. The turbo kicks in at 1,700rpm though there is barely any perceptible turbo lag and the power delivery feels linear throughout. It’s also one of the smoothest petrols Tata Motors has ever built and it is comparable to any other turbo petrol available globally in the same displacement category in terms of refinement and smoothness.
The Revotron engine offers three driving modes, an Eco, City and Sport mode of which City is the default setting. Leading technology developers, Bosch have assisted Tata Motors with the engine management system. Latest generation microprocessors manage the driving modes as well as the fueling and delivery.

Moto G review

Budget smartphones might not attract as much attention as their high-end counterparts, but there is no denying that these devices are in massive demand, especially in markets like India. Motorola's Moto G is an attempt to grab buyers' attention by offering a number of features at an extremely reasonable price. After a brief sabbatical, Motorola has returned to the Indian market with its Moto G smartphone, which is an affordable device for cost-conscious consumers worldwide. This phone was designed as part of Google's plan to focus on creating a distinctive lineup of devices for different markets. Now, with Lenovo recently acquiring Google's stake in Motorola Mobility, we don't know whether or not the company will stick with the same strategy. Motorola underscored its plan to focus on emerging markets by unveiling the Moto G at a huge event in Sao Paulo, Brazil in November last year. The budget-friendly smartphone was supposed to have reached Indian shores by January 2014.

Intex Aqua Octa review

Intex is not a name usually associated with high-end, high quality phones. In fact, it's almost exclusively associated with cheap assembled PCs - Intex has been churning out budget-friendly keyboards, mice, cabinets and power supplies since the beginning of the PC revolution in India. Over the years, the company has branched out into accessories such as headphones, routers, webcams, speakers, and MP3 players. Of late, with the PC industry declining, it should come as no surprise that Intexhas jumped into the mobile market. Its strategy seems to be the same as ever: capture the low-end and undercut better known brands with a flood of products that might not look or feel premium, but are cheap enough to make people give them a chance. Intex has over 80 phone models listed on its website; most of them priced below Rs. 7,000. The Aqua Octa is one of only a few models priced above Rs. 12,000 and is second only to the full-HD Intex Aqua i7model.

Who stole Samsung Galaxy S5's buzz

On Monday, the Korean manufacturer also announced that the Galaxy S5would launch in 150 countries, starting from 11 April 2014. The biggest new features being touted by Samsung on the Galaxy S5 include a fingerprint scanner on the home button, a heart rate sensor placed near the 16-megapixel camera, and the IP67 certification that makes it dust and water-resistant.
The smartphone also features a new design in terms of the back panel now being perforated, and available with four colours at launch, and optional designer back panels. Additionally, it has been noted that the Galaxy S5 would arrive in four colour variants - Charcoal Black, Shimmery White, Electric Blue and Copper Gold. Furthermore, the handset will be compatible with Samsung Gear Fit, which is the firm's first curved, Super AMOLED health-focused wristband.

Samsung Galaxy S5 to be cheaper than Galaxy S4 at launch: Report

Samsung finally took the wraps off its latest flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S5, amidst much fanfare at MWC 2014 in Barcelona. The South Korean manufacturer at the event however, did not reveal a price for its Galaxy S5. According to a Korean report, Samsung is in talks with various international mobile carriers, before it announces an official price. Phone Arena, citing a Korean publication, has claimed that Samsung is considering pricing its latest 2014 flagship lower than the competition, such as the Sony Xperia Z2. Further, if the Korean report is to be believed, the company might price the Galaxy S5 lower than the company's 2013 flagship, the Galaxy S4 ( launched in India at Rs. 41,500 last year).
