Android WebView Vulnerability Reported by AVG Expert

The well known web security company AVG recently announced their latest discovery : a critical vulnerability in Android’s WebView that may allow a hacker to install malware on your droid device.
WebView is an essential feature in Android (or iOS for that matter) that enables your apps to display your content from the online resources and also makes it easy for your smart device to perform network requests, like parsing/rendering data.
A security expert from AVG just revealed that Android’s WebView has a critical vulnerability that, if exploited by a hacker, will allow the perpetrator to install malicious programs on your droid or to send SMS etc.
Because WebView works with various API’s in order to interact with online web content, this allows the user to basically view an online application as a part of an Android app.
The malware works by clicking on an infected link that uses a vulnerable app which opens a Java application in your browser or on a webpage.  It is basically a Java vulnerability,  using commands in the JavaScript code and it permits the attacker to install malware on your device or to send SMS, steal your private data and the like.

In the Future, Nymi Will Use Your Own Pulse as a Password

A little known company named Bionym just invented a new way to secure your personal data using a wristband called Nymi, a method which could make passwords, credit cards or pin numbers obsolete.
The new identification method is called “pulse passwords” and it uses your heartbeat in order to create a unique bio-password for all your needs. Every person has an unique heart beat rhythm, just like fingerprints are unique, and in the near future our pulse signature will be used to replace passwords, bank cards and even keycards.
Basically, your heart beat pattern is your personal PIN number, which will be used in every imaginable way : to lock/unlock your Android smartphone, your house, your car etc. It may sound like science fiction for the moment, but according to experts, this is the wave of the future. Our data will be secured via biometric means.
Bionym is a Canadian company and they created a wristband, called Nymi, that is perfectly capable to recognize your unique heart beat pattern and to transmit the information further to electronic devices, like an ATM, permitting its user to withdraw money without using a credit card. That’s just an example, obviously.

Software Data Cable

Hunting down USB cables is a skill many of us wish we didn't have to use. It can make syncing files with our Android devices a real pain. There are many ways to transfer files between Android and your computer without a USB cable.Mounting your Android phone to transfer files is fast and efficient, but nothing beats the convenience of a wireless file transfer.

So, here are some of the ways of wireless file transfer:

This is a free app which lets us transfer data using Wi-Fi. This is a great utility for folks who transfer lots of files and don’t like USB cables.

Dropbox

This is a great way to make files available on your multiple devices. While all your Dropbox files can be available on your device, a sometimes overlooked feature is the ability to designate a file as a "favourite" on your device, which causes it to be kept locally and available offline.Syncing your files between all of your computers, smartphones, and tablets is what it is all about. All you have to do is install the Dropbox desktop application and sign in using the same login. It will watch your Dropbox folder and automatically make sure your files are the same no matter where you get them.

ES File Explorer

This is an excellent file manager for Android. It comes with a built in search function, image viewer, and most importantly a LAN browser that we can use to transfer files to our computer through Wi-Fi.

Fast File Transfer

This app uses Wi-Fi Tethering for establishing connection between two devices and doesn't require any internet connection to transfer files. A very useful app for transferring large files as its lightning fast.

WiFi File Explorer

This uses your Android device's Wi-Fi connection to join your wireless network, then creates a little Web server on your network that lets you browse your files from any other computer on the network. So you just go to your PC, type the IP address and port number the app gives you and then you'll see a list of your phone's files and folders in your browser window. The app includes a password protection option, which should probably be enabled by default, but mostly isn't.

iShare

This app helps you to upload, download and share files over the Internet. You can totally forget USB data cable and freely send and receive any files between mobile devices and computers. iShare is a cross-platform file sharing app. It supports all kinds of platforms to upload, share and download files.

File Expert

This is one of the simplest and most cost effective solution .File Expert is a powerful Wi-Fi enabled file manager that allows you to easily move files from a PC to a tablet through a convenient web interface. The first task is to make sure the tablet and the desktop are on the same network. Once that is done, fire up File Expert. File Expert offers many features like Cloud storage. All basic file operations(copy, paste, move, create and rename) etc. are available as well.

The Benefits of Inheritance

Software Reusability-- Inheritance allows you to modify or extend a package somebody gave you without touching the package's code
–Saves programmer time:
–increase reliability, decrease maintenance cost, and,
–if code sharing occurs, smaller programs.

Consistency of Interface--An overridden function must have the same parameters and return type:
–Saves user time: Easier learning, and easier integration.
–guarantee that interface to similar objects is in fact similar.

Polymorphism-- Different objects behave differently as a response to the same message.

Review of Mahindra Centuro

The Centuro feels very smooth at low revs, torque delivery is seamless and it goes like you expect a 100cc segment bike to. The Pantero used to get loud and harsh above 6-6500rom, but the Centuro stays quiet and composed until about 8,000rpm before any signs of harshness manifest. We spent an extended period cornering on the mountain roads staying above 5,000rpm. And even at these sustained revs, the engine stays composed, performance is definitely within the segment’s expected levels and there are no signs of mechanical distress or fatigue. The gearbox similarly is slick enough and keeps up though I have my usual reservations about the all-up shift pattern.

Inheritance Mechanism

- A class may inherit from a base class. The inheriting class is called a derived class.
- Inheritance can be viewed as an incremental refinement of a base class by a new derived class.
- The derived class has all the fields and methods the base class has, plus new ones it defines.
- A class may override inherited methods(member functions), but not inherited data.
- A hierarchy of related classes, that share code and data, is created.

Inheritance Summary

Inheritance supports evolutionary, incremental development of reusable components by specializing and/or extending a general interface/implementation. Inheritance adds a new dimension to data abstraction, e.g.,
– Classes (ADTs) support the expression of commonality where the general aspects of an application are        encapsulated in a few base classes.
– Inheritance supports the development of the application by extension and specialization without affecting        existing code.
Without browser support, navigating through complex inheritance hierarchies is difficult.
